The Phantom Of The Opera Cambridge Theatre reviews
loonnngggg night
"All Hits, All Night" would have been my preference with two top billings. The arena wasn't even a quarter full for a sold-out show when we arrived on time. The opening act Keaton Simons was unnecessary; every song sounded the same after a couple of songs. The majority of the crowd could find their seats if the lights had been kept on. The concert started off well with a short break before The Phantom Of The Opera arrived on stage, but went downhill for me after that. I wasn't looking for new stuff, guitar and drum solos; the hits were very easy to remember. Kevin Cronin's voice remains unchanged, and he was full of energy, eager to pump everybody up to 'Get The Party Started' but delivered rock-pop and not at its best. Pat Benatar didn't come out until almost 10 pm after a very long break (trouble breaking down and resetting up the stage). Had she been the opening act, we would have left and passed on The Phantom Of The Opera. A half-hour into her show, she also began to drag with too many stories, new stuff, and guitar solo/duets with her husband. I would have preferred to hear more hits. We snuck out shortly after 11 pm after "Hell Is For Children." It was their first night on tour, and they definitely need to work things out, get rid of the opening act, have a better-prepared stage crew, and stick to the hits.
